Mai Hibernating

Anais and I have officially reached late Fall hibernation mode. Though we ventured out into the cold today, neither of us particularly enjoyed the chill of the wind blowing on our faces. Today is my day off and I planned to get a new toaster at Walmart, return the wrong fondue burner back to a California company and look at mitten and hats for the family. However, after returning the fondue burner to the post office, Anais nearly had a heart attack at the thought of venturing outside of the car again. She kept screaming, “GO HOME! GO HOME! TIRED! SLEEP!”

Sleep wins so I’m back at home toaster-less, glove-less and hat-less. Anais is in bed under a slew of covers hibernating.

The weather outside is hovering around 39 F degrees, but it feels like 28 F degrees due to the wind chill. According to weather.com, the wind is blowing at 24 mph. With cold like this, who needs to go out?

I spent my morning at MOPS- Mother’s of Preschoolers International. It’s a mommy’s group that convenes two times a month to feed us, entertain our children for free while we sit around and do crafts. I love it! It brings me back to wholesome days of board games. We do a lot of games as well.

All I can say is thank goodness I don’t have a 9 to 5 job at the office everyday. I remember the chilly mornings when I would trudge out of my bed, brave the frigid temperatures only to be worked to death inside my cubicle.  It was a thankless existence where I would look at the clock and count the minutes until I could haul my sleepy head back home to sleep. Now, I have my husband do the trudging while I balance office work to only 2 days a week and a business — which is a lot more tolerable when you’re the boss. Thanks Kobus for doing the trudging– your family appreciates it!

On the bright side, Kobus gets a packed lunch everyday. Unfortunately, he forgot his and it sits nestled in the fridge. I’ll probably eat it after I stop typing.

Since I moved websites from Friendsters to Word Press, I suspect my readership has declined due to the lack of annoying notifications that aren’t being sent out by Word Press. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, if you are in need of an annoying notification every time I write something new than please sign up for the RSS Feed — to the left of the screen.

So, I went to the mall over the weekend and was shocked to see Santa and his elves seated for eager children BEFORE Thanksgiving. Does the mall authority really think that the American public is that gullible in thinking that if they put the ornaments up the day after Halloween that we’ll shop more in this economy? Are they on crack?

Kobus and I being super cheap, bought nothing except for a unhealthy splurge on two Annie’s buttery pretzels with marinara dipping sauce. We’re very disciplined in our shopping- namely, we try not to do it.

It’s easy for me b/c nothing ever fits me.

On that note, I’m getting sleepy. I may opt for a hibernation nap with Anais. She’s got the right idea- sleep now and wake up around spring time.

I hope you’re keeping warm despite the chill.

Early holiday cheers!
